the fifty-sixth formica friday

It's that time again, another Formica Friday, a treasure trove of hodgepodge, random tidbits, and a bit of this and that. In particular, it is the place where I can celebrate the best posts I read this past week and want to share with you. [caption id="attachment_3393" align="aligncenter" width="614"]DSC_4547 I live here, now, at the end of the world.[/caption]

A list, in which I am grateful:

  • Mumford in ears, feet anchored to pier, camera in hand
  • glimmers of new possibilities and the here to come
  • small latte, extra shot, for takeaway from Taste
  • hope for things unseen
  • writer hands stretched to kindle the way of words once more
  • The Paris Wife and Malibu in Coke with fresh lime
  • filled tables

The best I read this week from you:

  • "At breakfast we all sit with our own agenda: inquiry, testing, obligation, love and need. The diner coffee isn’t so friendly; weak, but hot, it draws us closer to the table, to our mugs and to each other. The slow slave-hour of revving time surges and heaves as we exchange laughter and smiles, aloof gestures and glances at mobile phones, etcetera, etcetera." -- Timothy with The Fugue God
  • "And it sticks out and distracts and says that God doesn’t care about art. God doesn’t care about music. God doesn’t care about poetry. God doesn’t care about our hurt and pain and hope and love; he doesn’t know what it means to be human. But he does. That was the whole point. We are created to point to him." -- Alise with It Is Good
  • "I write for websites that have very little ethnic and international diversity. In fact, that list that everyone’s so upset about has more diversity than many websites I write for." -- Ed with How a List Changed My Life
  • "She cried and said, But, Mum, I’m thinking about it! I’m thinking about how much I love them, everyone, all the time! I think it! I just don’t know how to do it right." -- Sarah with In which she’s thinking about it
  • "When our boys refused sleep night after night after night and cried in their beds and the little one’s smile left him and he hid in the corner whispering to himself, 'I’m so sad ‘bout Daddy,' I was empty." -- Ashleigh with Peace Loving Marine Wife
  • "God is not good because he spared me grief; God is not good because he shortened a dark season; God is not good because he healed a frail toddler. God is good because that is his nature; he is good because he is." -- Seth with God is not good because…
  • "Are we pleased that we can be so composed in church, so calm and elegant, so lovely and presentable? Are we glad for our semblances of patience and performance, of how we do each step right?" -- Hilary with come to me (on being confirmed)
  • "There is a peace that comes when I do not hold tightly on to my own desires. When I allow the Spirit to move me and nudge me. When my prayerful wife and I submit to one another, knowing that we are both seeking with all of our hearts. It is with great peace that we accepted his offer, and it is with great excitement that we look forward to November, when we will move, once again, into the middle of nowhere." -- Shawn with Where We Are Moving (and Why I Blog)

And, as always, an old post from me:

Share with me: what was your best post this week, or whom did you read that I didn't?
