when we want to help tell your story

534613_10100433613856243_9222536_46449064_1591144821_n Shut the door, have a seat, we've put the coffee on for you and we have our notebooks out and pens at the ready.

Why all the fuss?

You may have a bit of an inkling that I think pretty highly of Elora and her exceptional talent to weave and craft good story and to inspire others to do the same. We may or may not have built a friendship of nearly four years around these topics particularly, around a shared desire to see communities create spaces that encouraged writers well and actively, not to show off or audition, but to cultivate and ruminate.

We talked a lot. We dreamed a lot. Then Elora started story coaching last year.

What's story coaching? It can range from as broad as mapping out where you are presently in life and actively reflecting on where you want to be and how to get there, to working with a manuscript to develop it into a robust, marketable work.

It's a chance to pour big cups of coffee, sit down over Skype, talk out, through, over, under, inbetween all the things on your mind and heart to map out your creative endeavours. Moleskines at the ready, the goal is for you to be heard well and then guided faithfully and practically.

Isn't that awesome? It's the very sort of thing I believe in so much I could burst.

And Elora's invited me to come along.

That's right! As of today I am joining Elora as a story coach, offering a unique opportunity to work with you one on one through your ideas and your hopes. We'll dream big, dream real, and figure out the next steps on your journey together.

And as an exclusive offer for the first week, between now and midnight CST on Saturday, January 26, a session with me is pay what you can. Seriously.

If you sign up this week and for this week only, the normal rates are considered non-existant and whatever you think my time is worth to sit down with you is exactly what you'll pay. (To have access to that particular discount, when filling out the form on Elora's site, indicate in the comments that you're paying based on Preston's exclusive offer.)

Big things are still coming, too. You'll see an official website soon, some exciting (read: HUGE) partnerships, and some crazy awesome ideas that are blossoming here in the next month. Maybe one of them has to do with a bit of fiction I've been working on ...

But for now, here's the professional way of explaining all of this:

We speak a lot these days about story, but little about how to form them well.

Everyone has a story to share, perhaps on paper, perhaps in speech, perhaps in the rhythm of everyday life. Elora and I are passionate about helping people tell their stories well, live their lives with intentionality, and discover the poetics of their extraordinary ordinary.

We want to help you peel back the layers and give you time to read patterns in your own life – moments where your story and your purpose unfolded before their eyes.

We want to do this with you.

Drawing on our unique perspectives and backgrounds, during these sessions we’ll sit down and flesh out the nitty-gritty of your story by identifying the points of impact and figuring out what it means to bring this story out into the world.

Who signs up for these sessions?

  • those who believe they don’t have a story
  • those who know they have a story but don’t know how to share
  • those who want to live a better story
  • those who have an idea for a manuscript but don’t know how to flesh it out
  • those who have a complete manuscript and need help with editing for content and organization

Using a formula tailor-made for you, we’ll meet over Skype or phone and talk about what it means to live (and tell) your story. In one hour, we’ll uncover patterns – the core of your story – and reveal next steps to getting it out into the world.

Every story is important – especially yours. Join us in the unfolding?
