The Story
In October 2011, Rhizome Publishing approached me about writing a book about reading Scripture as a means of reading the creation. A hop, skip, and a few emails later, we have arrived here. Wondrous, beautiful here. In March 2012, I signed the contract.
The Book
Tables in the Wilderness was born out of a series of blog posts I wrote in early 2011 concerned with reading Scripture well, as Story and narrative, as a means of understanding the way in which God reveals Himself to us in His world.
Part spiritual autobiography, part expository essay, Tables in the Wilderness shall be my offering, my confession, my gift to you, something to take along your own journey.
Tables in the Wilderness is structured based upon the three parts of a sonata: Exposition, Development, Recapitulation, moving from Word to World to Word and World in conversation. It is tentatively structured into twelve chapters, four chapters per musical movement, and shall be approximately 84,000 words. The division are, as of now:
- Rest
- Story
- Incarnation
- Word
- Journey
- Liminal
- Evil
- Heaven
- Trinity
- Table
- Tabernacle
- Icon
