going quiet

It’s finally time. I graduate this Saturday from Baylor University.

I could write, between now and then, about the leaving and the packing and the stacks of books.

But there are too many happy tears, sad tears too, and some things have to be lived before they can be written.

So, for now, I am going quiet.

I shall see you all next Monday.

This week, I’ll be taking off in observance of Holy Week. I’ll return to you next week with new fiction, posts, and the occasional witticism.

the first formica friday

This is the inaugural formica fridays post. The basic idea is two-fold: I don’t have the energy or time to churn out another blog post on Fridays and you probably don’t want to read another one for a little while if you’ve been gracious enough to keep up so far. The formica fridays post will be a smattering of links, tidbits, and disconnected thoughts that are essentially a summation of my week. As it progresses, I’m hoping for all kinds of fun kitsch to get involved. I’d love for you to share your best post from the week in the comments, by the way, if you’re a blogger. Why formica? If you’ve ever known me in my natural habitat, you’ll know that I have a tendency to spread things out all over the place when I’m trying to make sense of it: from when I’m baking to when I’m doing research. Formica counters have many-a-time been my aid in this process. Also, I needed the alliteration.

the 10 10s of ’10

I’m breaking from normal blogging habits with something a bit silly and fun for today. Ten lists of ten items each (in NO order, I assure you) from 2010. Now, some of them (like songs or books) are not exclusive to 2010 but were somehow significant to me this past year. Actually, all of these things proved to be greatly significant. I’ve come quite a long way, and it was fun to plot it out my journey by making some obvious and some not-so-obvious lists.
